Scouting Report

Hi, I’m a Failed Athlete.

Maybe you came to my website cause you heard about my hot start at Wieden+Kennedy, copywriting on Nike.

Maybe you came here because you saw how good my articles and interviews are.

Or maybe you got here because you saw me model for A Ma Maniére’s Jordan 4 release.

Was it my film photography? My fit pics? My posts about music, wrestling, television, and denim?

Did you get here because you followed my basketball career?

No. You didn’t. Because I failed.

My 20-year-long basketball career wasn’t all bad.

I played for some of the best AAU teams and showed out at some of the best tournaments and circuits.

I played for one of the best high school basketball teams in Chicago, for one of the most legendary coaches the city has seen.

I even went to college and played ball. I had a successful freshman year at Waubonsee Community College. Then, I went to the National Tournament at South Suburban Community College.

I’ve always started for every team I played for and I always excelled.

Some of my peers went on to play at some of the best Colleges in the country, and some even play overseas and in the NBA.

To play at a Division I University, and to go on to the NBA was always my dream — a dream I didn’t reach.

I failed.

Failing was the best thing that ever happened to me. In 2021 I quit the sport I loved since I was 2 years old and instead chose to pursue a career as a creative.

Since I quit, I found my purpose; it’s one that’s stared me in the face for almost as long as I had been playing basketball.

I’m a writer. I write articles, interviews, and scripts… and I’m good at it.

I’ve collected SLAM Magazines since 2008. My first issue was the LeBron James “THREE KINGS” cover. I’ve always been in love with music. I’m enamored with the way an artist can communicate and evoke feeling through song, and failing at basketball made me realize it. I love words, I’ve always loved words — and it took me until I was 21 to realize that.

Hopefully, you leave my website seeing how cool failure can be.
