Only Basketball, Nike’s latest basketball campaign was unveiled to the world on opening night of the 2023-2024 NBA Season.

I’ve been a copywriting resident at Wieden+Kennedy since July of 2023, who would’ve thought that two months later I’d be on set with LeBron & Zhuri James, Devin Booker, A’ja Wilson, Juju Watkins, DJ Wagner, Travis Scott, and a ton of legendary creatives?

While on set I helped ensure lines were read as intended, that we got millions of takes of different variations of “check”, and I used my failed athlete expertise to make sure all basketball euphemisms and moves felt authentic from all of our actors. I even helped oversee the styling of our everyday athletes.

After the main anthem was released on opening night of the NBA Season, our team began to release separate :15 & :30 second spots for select key visuals from the :60 second anthem.

Out of Home assets also accompanied our campiagn. Motion key visuals were shown on on West 34th in NYC, and the Circa billboard in LA.

From 2008 until I moved from my childhood home, I had a sticker on my door of LeBron going up for his signature dunk. If you told little me, that when he grew up he’d be shaking hands with LeBron, he’d say, “I know”.

Only Basketball could make that happen. Get it?
